Cleaning

Cleaning

Occasional contamination of the surface of a panel cannot always be avoided, no matter what care is taken, and cleaning then has to be carried out.

To keep this additional work to the minimum, please note the following already at the installation stage:

  • Work carefully and avoid contamination and damage to the coating, especially when cutting coated parts!
  • Leave any protective foil on the parts during the installation work but remove the foil immediately after the completion of the work and at the latest within 2 weeks! Remove drilling chips immediately, preferably by blowing. This prevents subsequent rusting caused by moisture!
  • If possible, remove any contamination before it dries. This refers to tar and bitumen in particular!
  • For the easy removal of many kinds of contamination, especially in the fresh state, you only have to wipe them off with a moist cloth. Depending on the type of coating, dried or stubborn contaminations can be removed by the methods listed in Table 1.
  • If possible, carry out cleaning without exerting pressure to avoid permanent damage to the surface such as loss of shine or pressure points and rinse thoroughly with clean water!

You must NOT use the following under any circumstances:

  • products containing sal ammoniac or scouring powder
  • cellulose thinners
  • solvents containing chlorine or aromatic solvents
